Algerian hajj pilgrims to receive swine flu vaccination
2009-06-16
In an effort to protect Algerian pilgrims from H1N1 swine flu, the government will offer vaccinations and provide surgical masks ahead of the hajj to Saudi Arabia, Echorouk reported on Tuesday (June 16th). According to Ismail Musbah of Algeria's H1N1 swine flu prevention committee, the government plans to "launch an awareness-raising campaign among pilgrims in collaboration with the religious affairs ministry and the pilgrimage office in the next few days".
In Morocco, meanwhile, several suspected cases of H1N1 swine flu are undergoing biological investigation, MAP quoted the health ministry as saying on Monday (June 15th). Last week, thermal detectors at airports helped identify three infected passengers who arrived from Montreal, Canada.
