Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi, accompanied by a delegation of several hundred people, began his first-ever visit to Italy on Wednesday (June 10th) by pitching his Bedouin tent in Rome's Villa Doria Pamphli Park, AFP reported. During his 3-day visit, Kadhafi will participate in talks with government officials, attend a debate with students at La Sapienza University and hold reconciliation discussions with leaders of the Libyan-Jewish community in Rome. The Libyan leader also asked Italy to arrange a meeting with 700 women.

In related news, Libyan Foreign Minister Mussa Kussa met with his Italian and Maltese counterparts Tuesday (June 9th) in Rome to outline a joint plan to curb illegal immigration.
