Algerian officials promise "transparent" presidential elections
2009-03-25
Algerian authorities have taken the necessary steps to guarantee "a transparent presidential election and the respect of people's choice in the April 9th poll", APS quoted Interior Minister Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni as saying on Tuesday (March 24th) in Algiers. Measures include updating the electoral rolls and allowing all presidential candidates to have their own representatives at provincial commissions for election monitoring. The minister added that more than 47,000 polling stations will make the election process accessible to everyone.
