Ex-prime minister to remain jailed ahead of Air Mauritanie trial
2009-03-23
The Court of Nouakchott extended pre-trial detention by four months for former Mauritanian Prime Minister Yahya Ould Ahmed Waghef and his Air Mauritanie liquidation case co-defendants, PANA reported on Sunday (March 22nd). The decision follows the detainees' refusal to pay the highest bail ever set by a Mauritanian court: 100 million ouguiyas (nearly 300,000 euros). The collective defence described the measure as abusive and unjustified.
