Libyan leader and African Union Chairman Moamer Kadhafi arrived in Mauritania on Monday (March 9th) as part of mediation efforts aimed at resolving the post-coup political crisis. He was met at the airport by junta leader General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz. Kadhafi is scheduled to address the two chambers of the Mauritanian parliament on Tuesday. In related news, the anti-junta coalition National Front for the Defence of Democracy (FNDD) said it was open to dialogue, ANI reported on Monday (March 9th). In a statement issued in Nouakchott Monday, FNDD said that it would "do everything possible" to support the Libyan leader's mediation efforts. Last week, Khadadi held talks with an FNDD delegation in Sirte, Libya.
