New security measures planned for Algerian election season

Algerian security services launched a plan to tighten security ahead of the official start of presidential election campaigns on March 17th, Echorouk reported on Saturday (February 28th). Measures include deploying more bomb detectors and scanners, raiding suspicious areas and increasing the number of plain-clothes policemen in public areas. Security sources said special attention would be paid to the terrorist stronghold of Boumerdes province.
