Algeria to require fiscal identification cards for import companies
2009-01-06
Beginning January 10th, import-export companies operating in Algeria will be required to use numbered fiscal identification cards (NIF), Tout sur l'Algerie quoted a Finance Ministry official as saying on Monday (January 5th). The move aims to curb fraud, tax evasion and the black market sale of imported goods. There are some 24,000 authorized import companies in the country, while more than 10,000 continue to operate illegally.
