Morocco helps Senegalese pilgrims stranded in Jeddah
2009-01-06
Senegal's religious leaders thanked Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Monday (January 5th) for coming to the aid of some 2,500 Senegalese pilgrims stranded in Saudi Arabia. Technical problems with their planes had prevented the pilgrims from leaving the airport in Jeddah. Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and its subsidiary Air Sénégal International provided financial and human resources for the operation. The first group of 249 pilgrims arrived in Senegal on Saturday. Eight flights scheduled through January 8th will bring the rest of the pilgrims back home.
