Morocco delays Belliraj terror trial until January
2008-12-28
The trial of Abdelkader Belliraj and 35 members of his alleged terror network resumed Friday (December 26th) in Salé, but the court immediately postponed proceeding until January 9th upon the request of one of the defence attorneys, local and international press reported. The Belgian-Moroccan and his co-defendants are accused of plotting to assassinate top-level civilian and military officials and Moroccan Jewish citizens. Belliraj attorney Taoufik Idrissi reportedly filed a complaint with Morocco’s Ministry of Justice asking that an investigation be opened into the alleged torture of his client by the police, AFP noted.
