New Algerian child welfare hotline logs 4000 calls in first 6 months

In the six months since the Algerian Network for the Defence of the Rights of the Child (NADA) launched an emergency hotline, some 4000 calls have been logged from Algiers alone, Le Soir d'Algerie quoted organisation officials as reporting on Thursday (December 4th). The "I'm Listening" hotline (3033) reportedly received 1,920 calls with legal questions, 1,650 regarding psychological concerns and 430 requests for information on the rights of children and protection procedures. NADA will present their 6-month assessment of the SOS line on Saturday (December 6th) at the Aïssa-Messaoudi Cultural Centre in Algiers.
