IMF: Algeria's economy insulated from global financial crisis
2008-11-16
Algeria will not be significantly affected by the world financial crisis but should adopt flexible economic policy to offset a drop in oil revenues, IMF official Joel Toujas-Bernate was quoted by Reuters as saying Saturday (November 15th) in Algiers. The IMF has encouraged Algeria to reduce its reliance on hydrocarbon production and diversify its economy.
In related news, Algeria aims "to become an international energy operator", Energy Minister and OPEC President Chakib Khelil said Saturday in his opening address to the 4th Algeria Energy Week in Algiers, APS reported. More than 1,700 exhibitors and 240 companies from 35 countries will attend three major events through November 19th: the 4th Algeria Oil & Gas Exhibition, the sixth International Strategic Conference on investment opportunities in Algeria's energy sector and Sonatrach's "Scientific and Technical Days" forum.

Can I ask a question? The non involvement of Algeria in world markets and other things has spared it some crises, right? I want a reply please.

Salam alikum. Khelil and his friends are the traitors of Algeria and the mafia.

As it is said, the crisis mobilizes efforts. Since we are far away somehow from the crisis, how can we mobilize efforts? The wise understands.
