Hackers attack Algerian newspapers
2008-11-16
The internet site of French-language daily Quotidien d'Oran was attacked by hackers on Thursday (November 13th), ComAlgerie reported on Saturday. This is the second recent cyber-assault on the Algerian press within a month. In October, the domain name of online daily Tout sur l'Algerie was the "victim of piracy", according to Editor Lounès Guemache, forcing the publication to change its name to tsa-algerie. The Algerian Parliament announced plans on November 4th to develop cybercrime legislation. The measure aims to thwart these kinds of attacks through new detection and prevention strategies, Post and ICT Minister Hamid Bessalah said.
