I do not believe that this news is real. Every time Morocco announces a discovery of oil or gas, it turns out that it is a form of political manipulation to make an ever more impoverished population believe that there are beautiful days ahead.

This is good news! Let us hope that this will not be another fruitless announcement.

Discovering gas or transforming the entire Arab world to gas or oil will in no way raise the value of Arab states, the economic development of its people or its prosperity. This reserve will bring up more trouble as in Iraq. Huge companies, American and British, will benefit from it. Its excess may go as direct or indirect aids to the Zionist entity to make it stronger. There is not a single Arab state which tries hard to work for lifting high the flag of the Umma by making us independent from the imperialist west even through self-sufficiency in one product or merchandise which we see as one of the necessity of life (wheat or gas for example) so that we won’t stretch our hands to import it under conditions from the west. We, chained Arab people, see strange acts by our regimes. They export and import the same product just for profit and greed. They import the shape of the parliament and ruling system. Among these countries, in order not to exclude anyone from this prosperous life, Morocco is our nation, I will sacrifice my soul for it, will the conditions of its citizens change if they discover oceans of gas and equal oceans of oil? This cannot be believed by a wise person. Evidence to the impossibility of this is enormous from independence to this day, will the conditions of its people change? I ask any ordinary person or official to refute what I say.

The price of food products and other goods are burning markets continuously and without any decline. We never heard from independence to this day that the prices of any goods called official, meaning that government contributes to its manufacture such as sugar and oil… etc has dropped. The price of sugar in Morocco in the 1970s was 5 dirhams. Morocco at the time had no factories, except Zaio and possibly just the factory of Sidi Slimane. When it built Zaio factory in the eastern region and the factory began production with local materials and workers, the price of sugar rose highly. Increases in the price of sugar continued year after year. The same can be said of other goods. Today, the world is witnessing stagnation and a drop in the prices of fuel exceeding 50% which entailed a drop in the prices of many goods. However, the price of fuel in Morocco remained the same, it has not dropped! To the point that it is said Morocco has one trend which doesn’t change and doesn’t decline even if all trends change. It is the trend of raising prices which is called maintaining the (principle) or keeping one’s word in the language of Joha. When the Moroccan is asked about the time at noon, he said it is 12 p.m. He was asked about the hour in the morning of the following day, he said it is 12 p.m. When they asked him for maintaining the same time, he replied the most important thing for me is to keep my word and time doesn’t matter! We have witnessed this constancy (high prices) during the years of drought, when rains are abundant and the weather us good. We noticed it with the current world stagnation as the price of fuel remained unchanged. We hope that our dear country discovers huge wells of oil, gas and all the resources of the abundant earth. We ask God the Almighty to pour on us rains of wheat and barley in order to witness some decline. We wish and ask for the same request for our Arab brothers especially those who have huge reserves of dozen billion dollars and its people are begging on streets and die in hospitals while its officials are watching. Their countries reiterate empty and useless slogans which have no effect in the value of the state and its oppressed, beggar people sick of sheer ignorance and bad conditions.

The good news has been confirmed: http://www.rigzone.com/NEWS/article.asp?a_id=69250. The only thing is that there are no follow-up articles. This could double Morocco’s gas production. However, doubling nothing still comes out to nothing… or almost nothing.
