Morocco marks National Literacy Day

Morocco marked its National Literacy Day on Monday (October 13th) with a target of reducing illiteracy rates in the country down to 20% by 2010 and eliminating illiteracy completely by 2015. The goal is backed by a national plan which has benefited more than 3.6 million Moroccans over the past six years. Official statistics shows that beneficiaries of the plan have increased fourfold, from 181,000 in 1998 to 709,155 in 2007. (MAP, APA)
