Mauritanian junta leader exhorts military to fight terrorism

Mauritanian junta leader Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz gathered military commanders Sunday afternoon at the presidential palace to demand "greater vigilance to thwart any terrorist attacks meant to shake the peace and security of the country", AMI reported on Monday (October 13th). In its coverage of the Nouakchott meeting, AFP suggested that the move may be an attempt to curry favour with the West.
