Algeria funds municipal guard department overhaul

2008-09-11

Algeria's municipal guards department will receive 146 million dinars for salaries, restructuring and transforming the guards into municipal police, Echorouk reported on Thursday (September 11th). The municipal guards in Algeria are charged with supporting security bodies such as the police, national gendarmerie and army in their fight against terrorism, the paper said. Earlier this month, Interior Minister Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni approved the establishment of municipal police structures in provinces where security is stable.

I think there is an abuse of the rights of municipal rights from the day they were founded to this day. I say that municipal police is just a dream beyond reach because most of them are illiterate, they can’t write ore read. Moreover, they are unfortunately marginalized. No one defends them, considers their requirements and aspirations for the future. Their future is unknown.

mouh113 Posted 2009-07-24

Long live municipal guards and long live Algeria free.

mouh17 Posted 2009-08-28

May God protect you municipal guards, you're men of hard times.

محمد قادة Posted 2009-09-09

Are there any news about the municipal guards?

الليث الاسود Posted 2009-09-14

God willing.

خالد34 Posted 2009-09-21

Long live municipal guards everywhere. Long live Algeria.

We agents of the municipal guards hope that this service will be staffed with competent men who know the value of municipal guards and their rôle during the black decade. We hope that officials will take care of their rights and obligations. Officials shouldn't cut their monthly wages and punish them without cause because in their opinions agents are valueless. There is also discrimination between agents. Thank you.

كمال Posted 2009-09-22

The dream of most municipal guards is to join the municipal police or the police in view of the neglected rights as a result of duality of affiliation. The general directorate, the operational responsible authority at the regional level.

صحراوي Posted 2009-10-03

We wish stability of the nation. We shouldn't forget agents of the municipal guards, their material rights. They are real Moujahids.

أحمد Posted 2009-10-04

Peace and mercy of God be upon you. Long live dear Algeria. By God I will sacrifice my soul for the nice country. We ask all officials in the Algerian authority, "Where are rights of municipal guard agents?"

محمد Posted 2009-10-04

All members of the municipal guards were deliberately marginalized.

aissawael Posted 2009-10-06

I have been working as agent of municipal guards since 1995. We have endured so much in this service. God the Almighty is our assistant.

I am a municipal guard in one of the detachments of the province of Tlemcen. I have the highest educational level in the detachment, third year of the secondary. But in the presence of an ignorant chief of the detachment, he manipulated our files with some officers in the delegation through bribery for no other reason but his fear that I might take his place. There are many such examples in the detachments of the province of Tlemcen. Therefore, I ask this question: is the delegate informed about this or contributes to it?

عبدالقادر Posted 2009-10-18

Thank you to every Algerian who endures with Algeria and to municipal guards who sacrificed their lives to bring about peace. May God rest the souls of martyrs who died for their national duty.

اليمين Posted 2009-10-18

There is nothing for the municipal guards. How would they think about these people and where would they find people who would work 48 hours and take a rest of 24 hours? Even if they have to work without compensation. Moreover, every body has instituted a group of municipal guards that works at the service of its chief such as the chief of the police unit, chief of the group and so on. We have God.

رشيد Posted 29 days ago

Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you. We members of the municipal guards in the province of El Bouira endure mismanagement as a result of bad living conditions at work. For example, in the workplace, there are not the minimal living conditions such as the scarcity of drinking water, interruption, suspension…I inform you that the individual income of agents is not enough. We hope that competent authorities will take care of increasing wages. Finally, is there any news about the law of the municipal police or Jouariya? Long live Algeria.

bouali Posted 29 days ago

Salam alikum. We are waiting for the news.

zeddam Posted 24 days ago

Salam alikum. Are there any news about training of municipal guards. I buy the newspaper every day and check it. Are there any news? I hope from the bottom of my heart that this service will be upgraded that served the nation throughout the black decade.

For how long will promises persist without acts?

اسلام Posted 22 days ago

We hope this department will be reformed, God willing.

Municipal police, is it a dream or reality? Heads of units of municipal guards who have university degrees are fed up with the provocations of regional units of the national police. What do you think of a unit of 40 members who are tasked to guard the unit? It is mandatory to keep an emergency team, work with members of the army in their different missions, work with national police, carry out ambushes and man checkpoints. By God, officials, be just. We are also sons of Algeria.

حرس بلدي Posted 16 days ago

By God, by God, I hope they will release the statutes of the municipal guards or municipal police and consider this orphan service. Victory and eternity to the faithful martyrs. Pride to all security forces. Long live Algeria.

الحافظي Posted 14 days ago

Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you. I have been working as member of the municipal guards since 1995. What distinguishes the municipal guards from other security services is marginalisation imposed by administrative leaders. For example, take the monthly wage 18,900 Algerian dinars for the agent who was recruited in 1995. There is no organised system of work. They can work with the army, police, gendarmes, individual missions and so on. But the salary is the same. By the way, once a police officer completes the training period, his salary reaches 26,000. Moreover, no one supports this system. Why? Because the leadership of municipal guards has come out on pension from the national popular army and its pension is many times higher than the monthly salary of the agent.

الضائعون في الجزائر Posted 14 days ago

We hope the municipal guards service will be treated justly. No to terrorism. They should rewarded, when they are tenured, with money and a house. They should have priority in everything.
