Epidemic threatens Moroccan livestock, UN agency warns
2008-09-10
Millions of sheep and goats in Morocco are at risk from an epidemic outbreak of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said in a statement on Tuesday (September 9th). A total of 133 cases of PPR have been registered so far in 29 provinces. While Morocco had already begun vaccinating livestock in the affected areas, the agriculture ministry said Tuesday that all livestock in the country will now be vaccinated, AFP reported.
