Banned Islamist group denounces Algerian suicide attacks

A banned Egyptian Islamist group denounced the recent suicide attacks in Boumerdes, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Skikda and Jijel that targeted "innocent Algerians", Echourouk and El Khabar reported on Monday (September 1st). In a statement posted on the internet Sunday, the Islamic Armed Group described the suicide bombers as "cowards" and said al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb uses "childish" tactics.
In related news, 27 new local police stations will be opened in Algiers and thousands of policemen will be deployed to boost the security during the holy month of Ramadan, Algerian national police chief Colonel Ali Tounsi announced on Sunday (August 31st).
