Mali, Tuareg rebels agree on new talks in Algiers

Algeria-mediated talks between the Malian government and Tuareg ex-rebels ended Friday (August 29th) in Algiers with plans to meet September 10th for a third round of negotiations, Algerian and international press reported. Both parties agreed to pursue the peace accord under which the Tuaregs would relinquish their claim for regional autonomy and Mali would develop the northern territory.
