Dana Petroleum to drill for oil and gas in Morocco
2008-08-22
Dana Petroleum will begin drilling an exploration well in Morocco on the Bouanane license, the company said in a press release Wednesday (August 20th). Moroccan state oil and mining company ONHYM has a 25% interest in the project. Morocco is trying to develop domestic oil and gas production in order to reduce its dependence on imported energy resources. So far, however, oil and gas exploration efforts, mainly in offshore areas, have not yielded significant results.

A reminder, reminder is good for believers. The Moroccan gendarme Omar Bouzelmat has set out the oil map of Morocco. In his famous press interview, no 122 in 2007 with the weekly paper “Al Michaal”, he talked about the discovery of the biggest oil field in the world in Morocco. Its area is over 7,000 km². He declared that the region of Bouhanane hosts an oil field which was not affected by the earthquake thanks to the thickness of the storing rocks of oil which are less than 14 to 16 m. So the state, instead of calling the services of this gendarme who has great powers to benefit from its fields, it brings foreign companies to give it 75% and take 25% of the resources of its nations. By God, this is regretful. By God, regretful.
