Italy arrests imam upon Moroccan extradition request
2008-08-19
Italian police arrested a Moroccan imam pursuant to an extradition warrant from a Rabat court, MAP reported on Monday (August 18th). Abdelmajid Zergout and two other Moroccans were arrested in 2005 on suspicion of raising funds and recruiting for the terror group allegedly responsible for the deadly 2003 Casablanca bombings. Although Zergout was acquitted, Morocco requested his extradition late last month on new terrorism charges.
