A high-level Algerian military delegation arrived in Bamako Tuesday (July 15th) to meet with Malian military leaders to strengthen security co-operation along their common border, local and international press reported. Reuters quoted Mali's military chief Colonel Gabriel Podiougou as saying that military experts are discussing joint patrols and intelligence exchanges to combat Tuareg rebels and al-Qaeda terrorist groups on the Saharan border. The three-day meeting will also focus on joint efforts against criminal gangs smuggling drugs, arms and people.
