Algeria opposition figures announce new political "alternative"

Karim Tabou of Algeria's opposition party Socialist Forces Front (FFS), said a new movement will be presented on September 19th as "an alternative to President Bouteflika and his political options,", Liberte reported on Monday (July 7th). FFS leader Houcine Ait Ahmed, former Prime Minister Mouloud Hamrouche and Abdelhamid Mehri, former secretary-general of the ruling National Liberation Front (FLN) are behind the initiative. The secular FFS is considered a leading opposition party and the main political force in the Kabylia region.
