Algerian President to attend G8 summit in Japan

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was invited by Japanese Prime Minister and G8 chairman Yasuo Fukuda to attend the Group of Eight's three-day summit set to begin Monday (July 7th) on Hokkaido, local press reported. The event will focus on African development issues, soaring oil and food prices and climate change. Bouteflika will also meet with French President Nikolas Sarkozy on the sidelines of the summit.
