Nine in 10 Algerians have telephone

Nine out of ten Algerians have a telephone, compared to 50% of the population in 2000, Post, Information and Communication Technologies Minister Hamid Bessalah announced Wednesday (July 2nd) at the launch of a telecom conference in Algiers, AFP reported. "Mobile telephone penetration is at 82%," he noted. Algeria also has nearly 4 million internet users and 5,000 internet cafes, Bessalah added.
