Libyan, Italian NGOs plan collaboration to stem migrant flow

The Libyan International Organisation for Peace, Care and Relief (LIOPCR) and the Italian Council for Refugees (CIR) signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday (February 29th) in Rome aimed at managing the migrant flow from Africa to Europe and curbing illegal immigration, Reuters reported. According to figures released on Friday by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 1,100 illegal immigrants, mainly Africans, arrived in Italy in last week after crossing the Mediterranean from Libya.

Finally, a good initiative that could complement the government’s efforts in the field of fighting and preventing of illegal emigration to Europe. Indeed, Libya has proved a springboard for the rush to the falsely attractive North. The NGOs could play a major role in sensitizing the masses from the start and preventing this new form of mass destruction. Global warming and unemployment are not helping; this massive ecological emigration will surely amplify to be on of the principle problems of the Global South. In my ecological activities with the sea, I found several bodies of castaways from this exodus, and I respected and honoured them. I also composed a giant arrangement from their shoes and clothes to inform and educate people. The texts and poems about this have been circulated on the Internet:
