EU, Maghreb ministers to hold informal meeting in Evora next week
2007-09-23
An informal meeting between the ministers of 27 EU member states and the five Maghreb states -- Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya -- will be held in Evora, Portugal, on the sidelines of the EU Defence Ministers' summit on September 28-29. The so-called "27+5" forum is to discuss the success of regional co-operation efforts and outline new possibilities for strengthening security co-operation between European and Mediterranean nations. The meeting will also decide how to involve Maghreb nations in the implementation of EU defence policy.
