Abbas El Fassi, Secretary-General of Morocco's Istiqlal party, which took the largest number of seats in Friday's legislative elections, said Monday (September 10th) his party will maintain a governing coalition with the Socialist Union for Popular Forces (USFP-left), the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS-left), the Popular Movement (MP–centre right) and the National Rally of Independents (RNI–centre). The parties were allied in the previous Parliament and hold 187 seats in the new lower house. Fassi rejected speculations that Istiqlal will form a coalition with the Justice and Development Party (PJD-right), the second largest party in parliament. If so, the PJD would remain in the opposition for another five-year term. King Mohammed VI will consult with the parties' leaders in the coming days before appointing a Prime Minister and cabinet.

How are the Istiqlalis going to deal with the "Najat Scandal" victims if they are to lead the coming government? The scandal has to do with the life of hundreds of people! it's not something we have to underestimate and ignore! What about the new road Law which the majority of drivers and people in general refused? Many mistakes were made by the Istiqlali ministers in the 'former' governments which does not augure well.

There will be other scandals more terrible than Najat, you should be careful. Those who accessed to power are thirsty to produce three dimensional films whose victims are 63% who didn’t vote. Maybe you have already noticed the beginning of the scenario represented in the rises of the prices of different goods, freezing wages to an undetermined date. The Flaty’s return to the finance is just an implementation of the first steps into ravaging everything including private properties of the people under the pretext of public interest. In his first statement after reading the budget of 2008, he says that given external constraints, the rise of the dollar, drought and debts, we’ve decided to increase taxes so that we go on a regular pace, release the pressure on the public treasury as it experiences inflation. Inchallah in the first five years, the finance of the State will see some improvement if our residents abroad come back regularly with more foreign currency. He goes on : one of my suggestions is to stop every project until the situation is improved. Local authorities should also take the initiative from their own funds if their members want to return to the local authorities in 2009. Some might wonder, what have we offered to the people. The reply in 10 years in which I have occupied the chair of finance, I have blown the dust which was accumulated in the period of Al Jawahiri and I have doubled the salaries of the seniors. Ask your seniors what were their salaries before I came to the finance. It barely exceeded the salary of an employee in the grade 10. As to the salary of the ministry, one was ashamed to say it. And where is it now compared to that of a president in European States? If God extends our mandate on this chair, I’ll put my concern at the service of the people on the conditions that the dollar depreciates and we discover oil. Anyway, the people don’t complain of hunger or poverty, they just want to immigrate to Spain for a living without any favour or compliments from anyone. But thanks to the alert of the border officers, otherwise everyone would have gone and we would have stayed without any taxes. It’s strange that our country is nice and bountiful and people want to leave it. What should we say and we have fought the colonizer, drew up the document of 11 January, as though it were the magic scheme which hastened the departure of the colonizer. I hope that poor people, sources of all crises, leave, and in the coming cabinet council I will suggest buying zodiacs and exempt them of taxes, and offer them to the people at a symbolic price or encourage them to immigrate.
