Thirty-four women elected in Morocco’s parliament

2007-09-10

Thirty-four women were elected to Morocco's Parliament during the recent legislative elections, Moroccan press quoted the Interior Ministry as saying on Sunday (September 9th). A government quota of 10% of Parliament's 325 seats reserved thirty places for women on a national list, and four women were elected on local lists. In 2002, five women were elected above the 10% quota.
