Algeria, Tunisia sign nine co-operation agreements

The 16th session of the Tunisian-Algerian high joint committee closed on Sunday (August 5th) with the signature of nine co-operation agreements, El Watan reported. Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem and his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Ghannouchi attended the ceremony. The accords cover a wide range of fields, including document exchanges related to employment, employment studies programmes, the mutual recognition of each country's driving licences and others. "These agreements are likely to enhance bilateral ties, especially regarding the movement and residence of citizens in each country," Belkhadem told reporters at a joint press conference with Ghannouchi, who described the session as "one of the most successful in Algerian-Tunisian co-operation, in terms of the agreements and their nature." The two-day discussion also focused on economic partnership, mutual investments, trade and the establishment of scientific research programmes on subjects of common interest, such as desertification.
