New study indicates 93,000 families live in Casa shantytowns
2007-07-26
A new study conducted by Morocco's Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction revealed that 93,000 families live in shantytowns in Casablanca, a figure 32.8% higher than official estimates.
Casablanca's shantytown suburbs gained the government's attention following bombings in May 2003 and March and April 2007, whose perpetrators came from a shantytown in the Moulay Rachid district. Moroccan media have highlighted residents' living conditions in the shantytowns and described them as 'belts of misery'.
In order to eliminate Casablanca's shantytowns, the state established a special company called Idmaj Sakan.

Salam alaikoum, this an interesting and great topic, but we want simplified articles showing the problems of the residents of shantytowns and the causes which led to the emergence of shantytowns and present solutions to stop this phenomenon. Thank you.

We should get rid of shantytowns which fill Morocco by destroying them and build big houses for the development of Morocco and to solve social problems in Morocco.

In fact,it is quite difficult to get rid of chanty towns espicialy in our beloved country,Morocco. The main problem that should be solved is illetracy because many families try to use chanty towns as a shelter. Even they have the opportunity to build or to reside in a good condition they depend on government to provide kyes of a new houses, and then they will try to use the same way again to binifit from the government that why i saud that we should firstly git red of illitracy and many other problem.what i have said does not mean that there is no poor peaple or that that they did not merit the help of the government, indeed there are huge number of needy peaple.unfortunataly, there many auxileries whish conterbute to spread the phenomena espicially chairpeaple. ihope any body to take responsibility, we are in 22 century and we are still suffering from accomondation problems.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you. Eh Muslims, I advise you to take care of your dear nation in view of illiteracy and poverty hosted by Morocco.

The main cause of this problem is internal migration from rural areas to cities.

Salam. Thank you almallam boujemaa for the article. It is an interesting article. But we hope that someone else writes a more explicit article. This means that we want to know the rate of shanty towns in Morocco and the problems endured by these people living in shanty towns. As you have said before, there are people who have a house but come to swarm with poor people. This is the consequence of illiteracy and backwardness because everyone thinks of himself in Morocco. This is why we have many poor people.

Bad article, and not up to snuff. Its author is ignorant.
