Morocco has launched a new programme called Rawaj, aimed at developing domestic trade, Aujourd’hui Le Maroc and Le Matin reported Thursday (June 7th). The sector accounts for 11.5% of the country's GDP. Designed by the Moroccan Trade and Industry Ministry, one of the programme's stated objectives is creating 40,000 new jobs annually and increasing the sector's contribution to the GDP to 16% by 2020. The programme envisages the adaptation of the sector to the needs of the consumers and the adoption of the necessary measures to accompany the development of small-scale trade.
