Participants at the 5th Conference of the Jerusalem International Foundation, which wrapped Thursday (March 29th) in Algiers, called on leaders at the two-day Arab League Riyadh summit to safeguard the holy city of Jerusalem. The Arab leaders in Riyadh agreed that reviving the 2002 Beirut peace initiative is essential as it is the only framework for a "global and fair" resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. "The Arab peace initiative draws the right path for reaching a peaceful settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict…based on the principle of land for peace," APS quoted the final declaration read by Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa and adopted by representatives of 22 Arab League member countries, as saying.
