Inter-governmental Bulgarian-Algerian committee session kicks off in Algiers

2007-03-27

Bulgarian Economy Minister Rumen Ovcharov heads a Bulgarian delegation that arrived in Algiers on Sunday (March 25th) for a three-day working visit. On Monday, the 18th session of the inter-governmental Algerian-Bulgarian committee on economic, scientific and technical co-operation got underway. The agenda includes the revival and intensification of economic co-operation between the two countries, and issues in the areas of joint investment, energy, transport, tourism, agriculture and water resources. The commission had not met since 1989. Reportedly, a number of accords will be signed, including an amendment of the existing joint-assistance agreement for economic co-operation in order to meet EU standards and a memorandum of understanding between the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency and the Algerian National Agency of Promotion of Foreign Trade.
