Algeria's Defence Minister Abdelmalek Guenaizia arrived in Italy Monday (March 26th) at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Arturo Parisi. The talks focused on promoting security in the Mediterranean region and bilateral co-operation. Both officials stressed their common interest and responsibility in the promotion of peace and stability in the Mediterranean through participation in NATO's Mediterranean Dialogue and 5+5 Initiative. As part of an agreement signed in 2003, Parisi and Guenaizia discussed opportunities for improving and increasing exchanges between the Italian and Algerian Armed Forces. (APS, Liberte, El Moudjahid)
