Terrorists attack Algerian police checkpoint, kill seven

Five police officers were killed and three injured when Algerian militants attacked a checkpoint Sunday (March 4th) in the area of Takhoukht. Two policemen died later from their wounds. Later that day, army helicopters launched an operation in the local mountainous area in search of Islamist extremists. On Saturday, a Russian engineer from Stroytransgaz and three Algerians were killed when two road bombs exploded near the town of Ain Defla. (Liberte, El Khabar, Reuters, El Watan, Le Soir D'Algerie)
