EC allocates 3.5m euros for project in Northern Mauritania

Mauritania and the European Commission (EC) inaugurated a 3.5m-euro project in Chinguitti -- a desert city 600km of Nouakchott that is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List -- the EC said Monday (February 5th). The project envisages providing basic equipment, human and financial means, to ensure the development of the city that is visited by approximately 2,500 tourists a day. The funds will help to build infrastructure, sports facilities, provide equipment for women co-operatives, rehabilitate 15 libraries and preserve of thousands of manuscripts. (PANA)
