Tunisia's tourism receipts reach highest ever growth
2007-01-26
Central bank figures show that tourism proceeds in Tunisia posted a 6.3% growth in 2006, reaching $2.11 billion, which meets government expectations. Expatriate remittances last year registered a 7.4% increase to $1.1 billion. Tunisia’s economy posted 5.3% growth last year, according to government figures, compared to 4.2% in 2005. The government is forecasting its average annual growth to accelerate to 6.3% in the next ten years -- up from 5% over the past decade, a fact that will help reduce unemployment. (Infotunisie.com)
