The first Euro-Mediterranean ministerial conference on strengthening the situation of women in society started Tuesday (November 14th) in Istanbul. Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia are attending the event. Finnish Minister of Social Affairs and Health Tuula Haatainen is chairing the conference.
Women's rights as guarantees of human rights and women's opportunities for education and culture are at the centre of discussion. The forum is expected to adopt decisions and outline tangible measures for strengthening the situation of women in society. (Menara)
