Libya, Egypt step up customs co-operation
2006-08-11
A joint Libyan-Egyptian technical committee gathered in Tripoli to study a proposal for setting up a common customs station to facilitate the movement of goods and people between the two countries. The project envisages the creation of a joint food and industrial laboratory and unifying customs procedures and taxes within three months. Continuous services between the borders points of Salloum in Egypt and Messaed in Libya and a shipping line for transporting passengers and goods between the ports of the two countries were also discussed during the meeting.
