The Council of the EU agreed to set up a "sub-committee on human rights, democratisation and governance" between the EU and Morocco on Monday (17 July). The Morocco Times quotes Menouar Alem, Morocco's ambassador to the EU, as saying that "the creation of the body is part of European support to Morocco in order to carry out reforms headed by King Mohammed VI, which were greeted by the international community". He says EU support will consolidate the country's achievements in the legal and justice system, electoral laws, and all other reforms undertaken by the government. (Morocco Times)
