Petroceltic starts drilling campaign in Algeria

2005-12-22

Irish-based oil and gas company Petroceltic International said it requested invitations to tender for its drilling campaign in the Isarene Contract Area in Algeria. The process is expected to be completed by the end of January and will facilitate the start of drilling operations in Algeria in the first or second quarter of 2006. Several international drilling service companies have expressed serious interest in the tender, some of which currently have ongoing drilling operations nearby, said Petroceltic CEO John Craven.

The Isarene Contract Area, which covers 10,800 square kilometers, is geologically similar to other large oil and gas fields in the Illizi Basin. The area is 75 per cent owned by Petroceltic and 25 per cent by Sonatrach, and has nine gas fields and one oil and gas field. Sonatrach has discovered reserves of 380 billion cubic feet of gas and 28m barrels of oil and potential reserves of 4.6 trillion cubic feet of gas and 400m barrels of oil. (UK-Wire press release)

Petrol in Algeria is an evil and not a boon for many reasons, including the fact that it caused governments and people to get used to an easy life. Therefore, things seem difficult for this poor people and it caused the government problems because of negligence.

When will oil be depleted?

عبد الكريم Posted 2009-01-25

Countries producing oil such as Algeria and member of OPEC, I can't say that this is of no use for the average citizen who pays a high invoice since the citizen pays the price. There is something wrong even if there is a production.

Oil is a blessing from God and a significant bounty. But the robbers, authoritarians and owners of (unclear) are the problem in Algeria. But no one cares for the concerns of the poor people. 1- Nationalization of hydrocarbons but when will the wages of the hydrocarbons workers? Since 1994, they have imposed on us work for 12 hours, but we have refused. They told us work for 12 hours and we would adjust your wages such as workers in the Gulf. But up to now our conditions have not yet been adjusted, why? They said if you want to work, let them work, if you don't want there are many people like you in cafés even if we are in the era of democracy. We work with over 200 foreigners who tell us you are the cheapest manpower in the Arab world. Why, is it because we don't deserve it? 11000 workers in drilling are enduring the same thing.

You haven't done anything interesting up to now. Where are the interesting topics? Where are they? What is this??

You are not going to believe me, but everyone is in a quandary. Being paid for working is far better than being unemployed. I hope you stay strong in the South and stay patient. I hope that the times will change for you. You know the difference between foreigners' pay and Algerians' pay, yet we do the same work in the same conditions. So, my friend, as I already said, being paid is better than being unemployed.
