New Moroccan new industrial strategy to give priority to export-oriented sectors
2005-12-22
Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou presented the new national industrial strategy to King Mohammed VI on Wednesday (21 December), which is projected to create about 440,000 jobs, increase the gross domestic product by 1.6 per cent and reduce the trade deficit by 50 per cent over the next ten years. The new strategy, which was studied by the government in consultation with professionals in various industrial branches, is based on competitive modernisation and priority development of export-oriented industries -- including textiles, off shoring, car industry, aeronautics, electronics, agri-food, sea products and handicrafts.
