Energy Minister Shakib Khalil said Algeria's oil production increased from 1.2 million barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day as part of a government plan to boost the oil sector while prices soared to record highs. Khalil said he expects oil revenues to reach $30 billion this year, compared to $24 billion in 2003. The projected figure would be the most revenue earned by the state-run oil company, Sonatrach, since its creation 41 years ago. (The Washington Times)
