Morocco Investing More in Tourism

Moroccan Minister of Tourism Adil Douirim announced the allocation of $9 billion by the government for tourism sector investment, to attract up to 10 million tourists a year to Morocco by 2010. Douirim said Morocco must triple its hotel capacity to reach 230,000 beds, qualify 70,000 tourism professionals, encourage joint ventures among travel agents and apply modern tourism marketing methods. According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, he said 5.2 million tourists have visited Morocco in 2004 compared with 4.6 million in 2003, a 13 per cent increase. (menareport.com)
