New Car Sales Rise in Morocco

New automobile sales in Morocco totaled 40,600 units of all makes through the first nine months of 2004. This translates into a 9.8 per cent increase over the same period for the previous year. According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the Moroccan automobile market is highly competitive, with 42 manufacturers represented. Asian carmakers are recording the highest sales growth levels: Korean carmaker, Sang Yong Motors, reported a 331 per cent increase and Japanese Daihatsu recorded a 230 per cent increase.
