Algeria to Raise oil Production

Minister of Energy and Mines Chakib Khalil said Algeria wants to raise its annual oil production from 1.2 million barrels per day to 2 million barrels per day by 2010. According to Khalil, the government expects natural gas production to increase from 62 billion cubic meters to 580 billion cubic meters over the same period. Khalil said new exploration contracts for oil fields in the Sahara have put the country in a comfortable situation. (El Khabar)
