According to statistics issued by the Moroccan Foreign Exchange Office, the kingdom's foreign trade deficit hit MD 44.3 billion (about $4 billion) in the first eight months of this year, compared with MD 33.6 billion a year ago. Meanwhile, the value of Morocco's total petroleum products imports amounted to MD 9.27 billion in the first eight months of the year compared with MD 5.05 billion last year. All in all, the value of Morocco's imports reached MD 102 billion in the first eight months of 2004, while exports stood at MD 57.5 billion, according to the exchange office. (menareport.com)
