Morocco Elected Chairman of Mediterranean Food and Agricultural Committee
2004-10-21
Morocco has been unanimously elected chairman of the Mediterranean Food and Agricultural Committee, an international organisation which includes almost all the producing and exporting countries in the Mediterranean basin -- Egypt, France, Greece, Tunisia, Turkey and others. It also includes observer members such as the United States, South Africa and Argentina. Morocco, represented by Bouamar Bouamar, will hold the presidency for the next two years. The chairmanship is seen a strategic gain for the Moroccan agricultural sector, which forms a major part of the Moroccan economy. (menareport.com)
