Tunisian Singer Safia Chamia Dies at 72

Safia Chamia, a Tunisian singer famous during the 1950s and 1960s, passed away at age 72. Born in Lebanon, she moved to Tunisia in 1946 and was honoured later in life by the Tunisian government for her talent. In addition to singing, Chamia was also a stage actor, playing the main roles in "Majnoun Leila" and "Antar wa Abla." The entertainer also landed theatre acting parts in France. (La Presse)
